Source4Style launches “The Cutting Edge” – Sustainable Design News

November 10, 2010. New York, NY. Source4Style, the premier destination to search and source sustainable materials and services online announces the launch of a series of sustainable design videos called The Cutting Edge: Sustainable Design News in 60 seconds (or something like that).

Described as “Talk Soup meets CNN,” The Cutting Edge highlights innovations in sustainability and technology from the frontline of fashion. Hosted by Source4Style Co-founder, Summer Rayne Oakes, the series features graphic editing and writing with a comedic twist.

“Source4Style is a new way to source online so we wanted news videos with a fresh perspective to storytelling so we decided to go the humorous route,” says Oakes. “Sustainability is such a serious matter, it’s nice to temper that sincerity with a good belly laugh.”

For the first few months, The Cutting Edge will feature a new video every four weeks and then become more frequent in the first quarter of 2011. Videos can be viewed at http://www.source4style.com/S4.

Source4Style checks in from London

October 5, 2010

Source4Style not only announces their Public Beta launch but also their sustainable design workshops in SF, NYC, and London.

10.5.10 Report: Clearly the biggest news right now (if you haven’t noticed) is the fact that Source4Style went live in Public Beta today<!>

It’s been quite a whirlwind and our team will have to have a celebratory meal in a week or so because we are all hailing in different parts of the globe right now, which is appropriate considering that we’re a site connecting designers from all over the world with sustainable suppliers from all over the world.

Benita and I have been busy in London. We got to announce the launch of Source4Style today at the Made-By annual event held at the House of Lords (The Parliament) and tomorrow we showcase our new site at the RITE Conference. Adam and Elizabeth have been working into the wee hours of the night in our office in Brooklyn uploading products, checking and re-checking supplier minimums, and basically fielding the calls and emails; and Dave (San Francisco Bay Area) and Max (Montreal) have literally been slaving away (Dave with 5 o’clock shadow chowing down on a Snickers bar; Max in his teddy bear nighties) working on getting the in-site messaging and search to work as good as possible.

We have lots of new features and materials coming in the weeks following – as well as the announcement of Source4Style Atelier, our experiential sustainable design workshops in San Francisco, New York and London. Find out more on how to register here.

Source4Style is the premier destination to search and source for sustainable materials online. We help bridge the gap by putting designers directly in touch with a supplier and their material and/or service offerings.

Currently we inventory swatches, which we send out to buyers directly from our New York office. All orders for fabric yardage and materials ship directly from our network of suppliers.

In order to offer designers the most direct access to suppliers and most competitive prices, we do not inventory fabrics. We relay your order immediately with the supplier. Within 2-5 business days you’ll hear back from us with both a confirmation of the delivery date and approximate cost of shipping.

That’s in essence how Source4Style works.

We source. You design.
