Source4Style Summer ’11 Internships

Source4Style is seeking three interns for the summer. All interested members are encouraged to apply.

We’re on the hunt for three talented interns who can join the Source4Style team this Summer 2011.

Positions include: Social Media Intern, A Journalism (Research/Writing) Intern, and a Product Design/Partnership Coordinator Intern. Individuals applying must exhibit responsibility, inventiveness, and ultimately feel comfortable working with minimal management and direction from the core team. Each intern will be given project requirements at the start and be expected to complete those requirements throughout the internship.

Career History Applications:

Social Media Intern

We are seeking an intern skilled in social media and has an interest or basic understanding in sustainable design concepts.  Intern must be a self-starter and be comfortable operating independently or with minimal management and direction from Source4Style team.

Expectations and Deliverables include: Strategy and management of Facebook and Twitter accounts; liaising between communications associate and blog editor.

Web Blog (Research/Writing) Intern

We are seeking an intern skilled in writing/researching and an interest or understanding in sustainable design concepts.  Intern must be a self-starter and be comfortable operating independently or with minimal management and direction from Source4Style team.

Deliverables include: One to two well-researched articles per week; One interview per week; Two “Top List” articles per week; one summary/review article; and one art/fashion/design/trend piece per week.

Product Design/Partnership Coordinator Intern

This is an exciting, hands-on project revolving around the creation of product packaging and a textile recycling program for Source4Style. We are seeking an intern skilled and interested in product design and partnership coordination. Intern must be a self-starter and feel comfortable working with minimal management. Project will be brainstormed upon start of internship and intern is expected to rise to the occasion and add insights to program along the way.

Deliverables include: A physical product; partnerships in and around Brooklyn area to help make packaging; and partnership with a textile recycler. Other deliverables will be determined throughout the project.

Fashion Footprints: Tools to Assess Environmental Impacts of your Products: Part 1

Measuring the environmental impact of products has been a mystery to many until now. Oftentimes brands would hire expensive outside firms to develop a framework to measure environmental externalities and record progress. Now easy-to-use and accessible tools are available to designers and brands to internally assess the environmental footprints of their products. Learn about the evolution of environmental assessment in the apparel industry, what tools are currently available for your use, and how to assess the environmental impact of an apparel and home item through the Eco Index, one of the groundbreaking environmental assessment tools of the industry. Attendees will leave with the basic framework to assess the environmental impact of their products.

Level: Suitable for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced

Fun, Food, Feast & Feedback: Source4Style Soiree

The 90 degree weather didn't damper the chill atmosphere at the Source4Style Feast & Focus Group held in conjunction with the Ethical Fashion Forum Social in Brooklyn, NY.

A BIG hearty thank you goes out to the 42 folks who came by to share in the fun at the inaugural Source4Style Feast & Focus Group in Brooklyn, NY. We had folks from Connecticut to California and hope it was worth the trip! Thanks to you we had a splendid turnout and are humbled by the tremendous amount of support that you have given us. And love, love, love all the feedback. We couldn’t do this without you!

For those of you who missed the event – here was the agenda:
