Source4Style showcases at TexWorld

July 30, 2010

The full Source4Style presentation from the July 14, 2010 TexWorld event is now live plus other media treats.

The Source4Style presentation – Eco-Trends: The Art & Science of Sourcing Sustainably – is now live at Lenzing’s Media Room. If you were one of the many people who didn’t make it out in the rainstorm, the entire presentation is online. I go over the soup-to-nuts of building a more environmentally-preferable line in both the apparel and home areas with case studies from Payless ShoeSource zoe&zac brand and Portico Home (6 min mark); next is a preview of Source4Style; and the last portion is on cutting edge industry metrics, such as the OIA Eco Index, Made-By, and NRDC’s Clean by Design.

If you’re feeling like some internet radio is what you need – Jaszy over at Modern Hippie Magazine just put up our interview online, which you can listen to at the above link.

Source4Style in The New York Times

June 1, 2010

Source4Style goes green for summer in NYT.

CEO/Co-founder Summer Rayne Oakes was recently interviewed by The New York Times T Magazine Style section in “Going Green for Summer.” Check out the whole article here and highlights below.

“[Source4Style] is an online exchange that connects fashion designers with suppliers who traffic in sustainable materials. “Let’s say you wanted to make that outfit” — she points to The Moment’s vintage blazer — “in sustainable tweed, organic cotton and maker buttons. You could go online, source the material, see what inventory the suppliers had, and get a sustainability rating,” she says. “It’s a design and innovation platform to really get the cool (stuff) out there.”
